1 part integrity, 1 part compassion, and a dusting of sparkle

You are very powerful, provided you know how powerful you are.
— Yogi Bhajan

It’s Friday and I can feel it in my bones… and my tired eyes. This week has been full of lots of love and joy, as well as moments that made me want to hit the re-start button. It’s no problem feeling powerful when you’re happy- but how can you keep it going when someone is trying to make you feel smaller or less significant?

With compassion and strength… and a little bit of sparkle.

Looking back at this week, the experiences where I started to doubt myself essentially strengthened my compassion for what others were going through. And when I could feel them reaching out to belittle my power I tried to meet them with empathy.

Power doesn’t come from a cup of coffee or a working-date with strong women- those things help though. Nor does it come from having a material rich existence. It comes from having integrity and compassion. The most powerful people I know are very different from one another, but they have those traits in common.

I opened this post with a mantra I repeated to myself during yoga this morning. I’ll end it with a little fairy tale, and a question.

How do you remind yourself of your power?

"You've always had the Power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself."
