I said yes!

Or rather I didn’t say no.

To my writing.

To experiences from which I’d normally hide.

To dedicating hours to my craft.

In an earlier post I wrote about how good it is for me to just be at my desk, and that remains true. What else is true for me is these words will not write themselves. Saying yes to my writing means sitting down, turning off my phone- or at least turning off the ringer- and doing the work, even when I only have a few moments. My power comes from what I create, and I can’t create if I’m saying “no” to opportunities.

Baron Baptiste uses this perfect to illustrate the power of “yes:”

Yes is a world

& in this world of

yes live

(skillfully curled)

all worlds
— e. e. cummings

It’s powerful and exhilarating to think that WE are in charge of creating our lives and our worlds. Say yes to yourself and to your craft. If it matters to you, then the world deserves to see it completed. So tell me, what are you saying YES! to today?
